BAY AREA- Bob and Tina Weymann always wanted their daughter Megan to marry someone hard-working and kind. After 6 months of dating, Megan knew she found the one. She married Taylor Foy, a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, And Nuclear Defense Specialist for the U.S. Marine Corps in December; leaving behind her family, for a new life in Hawaii.
“We miss her like crazy. Thank God for Facetime, but it’s really hard,” said Tina Weymann.
The Foys moved to Hawaii in March, where Taylor’s stationed. Since then, The Weymann’s and the Foy’s look forward to evening Facetime calls.
“I still talk to them every day. When I first moved my parents probably called me every other hour. It was probably annoying for Taylor, but it was the closest thing I had to home,” said Megan Foy.
Although they’re thousands of miles apart, the Weymann’s say technology and social media allows them to stay connected.
“Wake up in the middle of the night to see what they put on social media, what did she snapchat to me or what did she cook today,” said Weymann.
Although she is sacrificing time away from her parents and sister, Megan says as long as Taylor is passionate about serving our country, she will support him, no matter where life takes them.
“Your whole world changes, it becomes like the military, and everything else is under it,” said Foy.
While waiting orders for their next base, The Foy’s are hopeful they will be closer to home and both of their families.
“It’s great having parents who will support you through anything,” said Foy.
Until then, the Weymann’s they will count down the days until they are reunited.
“We only sacrifice the separation. Look at what they sacrifice,” said Bob Weymann.
