VENICE (SNN-TV) – After picking up a huge district win last week at home against Riverview, the Venice Indians face an even tougher test tomorrow at home in SNN’s Game of the Week.
The now 3-2 Indians will host the undefeated, 6-0 Manatee Hurricanes tomorrow night at Powell-Davis Stadium at 7:30pm.
Jacquez Green’s Hurricanes head south tomorrow, after a dominant, 52-6 road win last week over Lakewood Ranch. Manatee has divvied out the punishment to all Suncoast Counties so far this season, defeating Sarasota, Charlotte, Braden River, Port Charlotte and Lakewood Ranch in consecutive weeks.
Despite their win last week, Venice allowed 277 yards rushing to Riverview, and an even stronger rushing attack heads to the island tomorrow night. A three-headed monster of tailbacks in Trayvon Pinder, Cory Sanders and KeiShawn Smith will lead a stout ‘Canes offense against a statistically penetrable Venice defense. Yet, the Indians will fight fire with fire with running backs Jamarice Wilder, Alvin Johnson III and emerging freshman, Dorien Irving-Jones.
A ticket to tomorrow night’s game will be money well spent, with kickoff set for 7:30.
