DAYTONA BEACH – Braden River rises as they’re grand champions for the third year in a row.

The Marching Band of Pirates competed in the state championships in Daytona and won it all in their 3A class. They performed their ‘Rise’ halftime show where, among other things, they visualized rising above obstacles and challenges.

Of the five times Braden River’s band has won a state championship, three have now come under Band Director Jeramiah Bowman.

Braden River wasn’t alone in the area: the Lakewood Ranch Marching Mustangs were finalists in their 4A class. They won third place in the state for their show, The Angular Objection. That show honored five people associated with the band who died in 2018 in separate incidents.

The Sarasota High Mighty Sailor Band competed in the semi-finals, performing their show based on Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.

SNN congratulates our young bands for a job well done.
