NORTH PORT, Fla. (SNN TV) – The North Port City Commission may give permission for a developer to study Warm Mineral Springs.
The agreement is on the consent agenda Tuesday night. If approved, it would allow Warm Mineral Springs Development Group to survey the land and assess the environment. Approval doesn’t guarantee the commission will enter a partnership with the developer.
The area may be further developed into a 150-room resort hotel and spa, with 50 rental eco-cabins and 270 condominiums.
The North Port City Commission voted on July 25 to direct city staff to start working with the developer on a public-private partnership for Warm Mineral Springs. The Herald-Tribune reports the proposal has been criticized by many city residents. The responses to a city-sponsored survey favored less intense park improvements than those by WMS Development Group.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. at North Port City Hall at 4970 City Hall Boulevard.
