VENICE (SNN-TV) – Fresh off their 8A state title victory, two key components of the Indians’ success were honored today for their performances this season.

Respectively, Venice senior quarterback Ryan Browne and head coach John Peacock were named the Class 8A Player and Coach of the Year, in a vote by state media.

In Venice’s 8A state title win over Apopka, Browne threw for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns, adding to his season total of 2,631 passing yards and 31 touchdowns.

As for Peacock, by defeating the Blue Darters, he won his second state title in 15 season at Venice, topping off a 14-1 2021 season.

Upon winning these awards, both Browne and Peacock are eligible for overall awards: Browne as Mr. Football and Peacock as overall Coach of the Year in the state.
