VENICE (SNN TV) – Venice ranks number 1, and the mayor is conflicted.

Venice was named number 1 in the state and 5th in the country as an area that best balances big city living and suburban atmosphere. The ranking was conducted by STORAGECafe, a nationwide online search company for self-storage units.

STORAGECafe analyzed 912 cities with a population between 10-thousand and 100-thousand people and considered affordability, demographics, business, shopping, dining, health, education, and safety, among other criteria.

Venice is credited for its lively streets, diverse population, entertainment opportunities, snowbird appeal, and “zoombird” appeal for people who telecommute to work.

The Herald-Tribune says Venice Mayor Nick Pachota calls the increased exposure bittersweet, saying the positive attention is great, but “as somebody who grew up here, there’s just a lot of development right now and it’s moving really fast.”
