VENICE – “Grateful that Sarasota has its act together so well, and it was such an easy process,” said Sarasota County resident, Granville Burgess.

5,000 first doses of Moderna were sent out to a State pop-up drive-thru vaccine clinic at the Venice Municipal Airport Fairground Sunday.

“Boy once you get in that line, it just flies and everybody is so good at working you through the traffic lines,” said Sarasota County resident, Zerbe Soderbick.

“I’m telling you, it is so well run and so organized, it is so impressive what they’re doing here, relative to getting people through, you can see how many people are going through,” said Sarasota County resident, Bill Reny.

Appointments were sent out through the county registration system, going by next account number in line, not by zip or area code.

“I signed up online about a month ago, and they said at one point it was going to be in April, but obviously it wasn’t April it was here,” said Reny.

Sarasota County Resident Jane Reed, says after the first dose she feels a little bit safer.

“And once we have the second vaccine and once we have the two more week wait I am going to feel much more comfortable getting back to doing activities like church, and some of the things that we have been doing from a far, or on zoom,” said Sarasota County resident, Jane Reed.

“It has been difficult obviously not seeing the grandchildren and all that sort of thing as much as you’d like  but everyone is going through it and I’m just so pleased and so excited about the face that this were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Reny.

Another Sarasota county resident, says he’s looking forward to the next few months

“Most or all of us will be vaccinated and we can start thinking of how we can return to normal, but were going to wear our masks for a while and keep our distance and do all the safe stuff for awhile now,” said Burgess.
