SARASOTA – Two Suncoast hospitals are reporting positive test results for newly admitted patients.
Spokeswoman for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Kim Savage says two new patients are being treated for coronavirus.
This brings the current number of hospitalize patients at SMH to 34. Hospital staff is reporting they’ve tested more than 700 people.
SMH released the following statement to SNN “Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, SMH has tested more than 760 people, with 635 negative results, 61 positive results and 65 results pending. As of this afternoon, SMH is caring for 34 inpatients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and has safely discharged 33 positive patients.”
Venice Regional Bayfront Health is also reporting two new patients have tested positive. The hospital treated at least two other patients for the disease, including a 82-year-old man who died.
Venice Regional staff say they are currently treating 2 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. SNN previously reported the hospital was treating 28 patients that was incorrect at the time.
Spokesperson for the hospital is also reporting one employees has been confirmed as positive for COVID-19 and is in self-isolation at home.
