SARASOTA – When the coronavirus hit the U.S. the arts community everywhere was sent reeling. Two artist are now reviving the Suncoast arts scene.
The arts community of Sarasota has taken a significant blow since the start of the pandemic. Art shows, galleries, and festivals – all had to be placed on hold or canceled as much of the world entered a lock down.
“These are the times that people get creative and think out of the box,” said Heidi Schwartz.
Schwartz, a live event painter, finds inspiration to continue making her art in the ambiance Sista Key Beach has to offer. With several of her summer bookings getting canceled, Schwartz began to experiment with her art.
Crossing paths with a local artist who helps spread an encouraging message here on the Suncoast. “The energy is here the love is here, and we’re just exploring that and sharing that with everybody,” said Brandon Thrift.
Schwartz and Spread Love artist Thrift spent five days working on the beach. Creating one of a kind pieces capturing their art styles combining them into one. Helping spread Thrift’s message of sharing the love, revitalizing Sarasota’s vibrant art scene.
“Ultimately getting to share the affinity for love ,and the affinity for art itself,” said Thrift. “And to be able to do all that and to do it together into one idea. Into one project or one concept is super rewarding.”
Schwartz says the pandemic taught her to step outside her comfort zone to discover new artistic avenues.
“It’s been inspiring to have a different scene and a different situation than I’m used to,” said Schwartrz. “It’s been a positive thing in this era of coronavirus where I think people just need some peace and love.”
