TAMPA (SNN-TV) – Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs is expected to miss multiple weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain.

The injury happened in overtime on a second-and-9 play, where Wirfs was pass-blocking defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, with outside linebacker Jeremiah OwusuKoramoah attempting to hurdle running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who inadvertently pushed OwusuKoramoah into the back of Wirfs‘ legs.

Wirfs should be able to avoid surgery unless a second opinion reveals more, the hope is that he will be out only three to four weeks. The two-time pro bowler, at the earliest, could be back on the field by Week 17 at home against the Panthers.
