SARASOTA – Three Suncoast woodworkers are putting their special talents to work to raise money for a good cause.
“Its friendly competition, so we’re going to have fun with it,” said Owner of Designs by DN, Dustin Nichols.
Three Suncoast businesses are joining in on a challenge to create a wood slab epoxy river coffee table to raffle off for charity
“The whole aspect of this is pretty unique, you know me being a cop, Dustin’s got the bad boy personality, Luke is kind of an artistic individual so it’s going to be pretty cool, to give money back to charity during the pandemic because it has been pretty rough for these guys,” said Sarasota Sheriff Deputy and Owner of Thin Blue Line Woodworks, Michael Nickerson.
The charitable challenge will start this summer
“As we go along through it, everything will be documented so people can follow along to see the things that we’re doing, start to like one particular builder and create a connection so that we can sell as many raffle tickets as we can for our builds,” said Nichols.
Nickerson says he is already brainstorming designs
“In the back of my mind I have some ideas but we’ll see how it pans out, but it honestly all depends on the piece of wood that you find,” said Nickerson.
And you cannot forget each piece will be one-of-a-kind
“It all is organic, it is a process, some can take three days, some could take three weeks, it’s really all about the job,” said Nichols.
The finalized build is set to be ready in the Fall.
“And the winners, all three winners, not just one, all three winners, 100 percent going to charity, will be announced in the Fall,” said Nichols.
And the winner of the friendly competition will come down to the build with the most raffle tickets.
