BRADENTON – It’s been nonstop action as these he-men have been fighting to reach the top of the mountain and proclaim the title World’s Strongest Man.

They’re tough, resilient, and without a doubt strong. 25 athletes from around the world started in this competition but now only ten are left.

With just three athletes representing the U.S. in the finals Kevin Faires, Jerry Pritchett, and Brian Shaw. But noticeably absent from this year’s competition.

“The name is Martins Licis and I am the current world strongest man here to see the next world’s strongest man be crowned,” said Licis.

Licis the 2019 champion, chose to not compete this year, in order to recover from injuries sustained from being hit by a car while riding his bike in July.

But that wasn’t enough to keep the reigning champ away from the action, and keeping an eye on his competition for next year.

“A true strongman adapts to circumstances and can figure out his strengths and mobility to lift the implements,” said Licis.

And before the action could reach the finals Oleksii Novikov did the unthinkable. In his World’s Strongest Man debut the 23-year-old part time college student set a new world record in the partial dead lift by lifting 1,185-pounds.

With three more grueling events to go the best of the best will battle it out in the Overhead Log Ladder, the Hercules Hold, and the dreaded Atlas Stones to determine the 2020 World Strongest Man champion.

A new champion will be crowned on Sunday November 15th, but who will it be? For that you’ll have to stay tune to the CBS Sports Network in December to catch all the action in full detail.

To catch the action here in the U.S. tune into the CBS Sports Network with the two-hour finale slated to air on CBS on December 26th.
