SARASOTA – The Sarasota Yacht Club hosted a fishing challenge for veterans on the Suncoast this weekend.
22 veterans from across the country competed in the challenge, with help from, the Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge.
The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for wounded and injured American military service veterans.
“When you put the nose of the boat out on the horizon, and you’re just heading out and you’re just not exactly sure what the day is going to bring, it just has a tendency to bring a tremendous sense of relaxation, and the comradery of just being with other people to see who can bring the best and the biggest fish just the positive that we are bringing for all of these service members,” said Commodore of the Sarasota Yacht Club, Brian Will.
A grant was also made to Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge in the amount of $10,000.
