SARASOTA (WSNN) – The Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival is underway.

As you drive through Sarasota’s downtown, you may smell something fishy, but in a good way! The Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival returns for its sixth year at JD Hamel Park. Free admission for all, including your four-legged friends.

“We come for the sunshine, the food and the music,” Port Charlotte resident Scott Cummings said. “And of course, our dogs love the music and the food too.”

The festival runs through Sunday with lots of familiar faces filling your tummies and your soul.

“All local bands, a lot of the vendors out here are all local vendors, so come on out and support the community,” Paragon Festivals’ CFO Ron Soto said.

Lots of fresh seafood you’ll want to get your hands on. Plus, you may recognize the Whole Band featuring Callie Chappell, playing some Americana and Bluegrass.

“We have a very good vibe in our band, we all get along great,” The Whole Band’s guitar and singer Callie Chappell said. “It’s just a love fest. And it turns into a love fest with our audience too. We’re so grateful for that.”

When Diana Lynne comes to Florida from Connecticut, she says she seeks this band out.

“They’re really great musicians and I really enjoy them a lot,” Lynne said.

Other musicians include Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio, Thunder Beach and JP Soars and the Red Hots.

There’s even a place to shop for arts and animals. The Humane Society of Sarasota County has pets ready for adoption.

“Take one home with you,” Soto said. “This is a great opportunity to get that furry friend you’ve always wanted.”

Hundreds of people were at the festival Saturday, enjoying good vibes and great weather.

“I feel great. I’m hungry right now, I want to get myself a beer and a sandwich as quickly as possible,” Cummings said.

Saturday’s event goes until 10 PM and Sunday’s hours are from 11 AM to 6 PM, weather permitting.
