SARASOTA – Sarasota County Fire department responded to a call of a fire near Tamiami Trail and Vamo way.
The call came in shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.
The right southbound lane on Tamiami trail was briefly closed as firefighters worked to put out the fire. The fire department tells SNN one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Officials don’t know the cause of the blaze but say it started in a homeless camp located inside of the field.
