SARASOTA COUNTY- Sarasota County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 800 block of Bacon Avenue Sunday, after deputies say 25-year-old Jeremy Neipert threatened to kill a female victim, then himself.

“When they responded they saw Mr. Neipert run very quickly into the home and that was the last we saw of him,” said Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kaitlyn Perez.

Multiple units including patrol, K9, SWAT, Air-1 as well as negotiation units remained on scene for hours, as deputies tried to get into the home.

“First sending in our robots and then sending in members of our SWAT Team. They used distractionary devices to try to get the suspect to come out unfortunately he never did come out,” said Perez.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kaitlyn Perez says after more than ten hours, SWAT was able to get into the home, but Neipert was nowhere to be found.

“Our SWAT team did make entrance into the home but we were unable to locate Mr. Neipert,” said Perez.

Although the SWAT call has ended, this investigation is far from over.

“But again this isn’t the end of it this really is just the beginning,” said Perez.

According to a tweet from the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office Neipert in now in custody and is no longer a danger to the public.

“We were also told he has access to a high caliber weapon as well and that is an AR15. So long as there is a gentlemen on the streets of Sarasota county with weapons in his possession who should not have weapons, we are concerned,” said Perez.

Deputies say this isn’t Neipert first run-in with the law, in the past he’s faced possession of marijuana charges as well as contempt of court, but this time he’s facing even more serious charges.

“We do have a warrant for his arrest he is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and there could be more charges coming forward as well,” said Perez.

Deputies say no injuries were reported and both weapons were recovered.

“We really want to thank the community and the public for their patience today we can empathize and understand the inconvenience that this caused but we’re relived no one was seriously injured,” said Perez.
