LAWRENCEBURG, TN (SNN-TV) – The Sarasota Babe Ruth 14-U All-Star team had to wait a day to continue its journey to the Babe Ruth World Series.

Heavy rains yesterday postponed the opening-round game in the Southeast Regional between Sarasota and host Lawrenceburg, TN. The washout meant Scooter Gennett’s team had to play two games today.

Sarasota faced, an unfortunately fell 11-4, to Lawrenceburg this morning, and are currently in a rain delay against Marshall County, TN, likely to start play later tonight around 9:30pm on the X Sports Network. Despite tonight’s outcome, Sarasota will return to action tomorrow against Tallahassee, with their final contest taking place Saturday against Greenville, NC.

Of the five teams in the region, only the overall winner will advance to the Babe Ruth World Series next month in Fredricksburg, VA.
