SARASOTA (WSNN) – People on the Suncoast can immerse themselves in art at Museum Free Day.

The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design is making the last Sunday of every month a free day.

This is all made possible through the generosity of the Barancik Foundation.

This Sunday, there will be a musical interlude for people to enjoy on the Plaza… a front porch event where kids can curl up to a good book… Plus, a “What’s your Medium?” event, with a focus on Acrylic. This is where you can make art and learn about how artists use different mediums.

“People aren’t used to coming into a museum space, especially a contemporary art space,” Sarasota Art Museum Curatorial Assistant Emory Conetta said. “Because this is the first contemporary art museum that’s ever been in Sarasota. Thinking about the materials you might see in the space and giving visitors  the opportunity to work with those materials themselves, hoping that they’ll garner a greater appreciation for the art they see in the galleries, but it also allows them to explore their own creativity.”

This free day will run every month through 2022. Since this museum is constantly rotating artists, you can find different exhibits throughout the year. You can find more info here.
