SARASOTA – Medicine isn’t the only way to help with Alzheimer’s, a healthy lifestyle helps too.
The Roskamp Institute is working on a new way to tailor the best lifestyle for a person to prevent getting Alzheimer’s.
It’s called the Brain Reserve Index (BRI).
CEO, Dr. Fiona Crawford, says there is currently no effective treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, but there are ways to reduce the risk of getting it.
It includes physical exercise, mental exercise, and a healthy diet.
The BRI analyzes all of this.
“We bring folks into the clinic, and we get information about their existing medical history; their physical exercise, their mental exercise, and their diet. And, we’re able to provide with a re-anecdote dote that gives them an estimate of their risk for Alzheimer’s disease, and we can work with them to help modify their risk as we go forward.”
They haven’t launched the BRI to the public yet, due to funding. If you want to help or learn more, you can visit their website.
