LOUISVILLE (SNN-TV) – One of baseball’s greats is being honored at the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville, Kentucky.

A lifelike sculpture of Roberto Clemente was unveiled at the museum today. It is the sixth statue to be displayed in the museum gallery. Clemente led the Pittsburgh Pirates to the World Series and racked up all kinds of awards before he was killed in a plane crash while trying to help earthquake victims in 1972.

The Louisville Slugger factory is donating 100-prime bats to help raise money for the Roberto Clemente Foundation. Clemente would’ve been 87 years old today.
