CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN) — A Suncoast airport was ranked the worst airport in Florida based on several different factors.
FloridaRentals.com ranked 19 Florida airports, placing the Punta Gorda Airport last on its list.
Frequent flyer Lisa Bowser says her experiences don’t align with the ranking.
“I’ve never flown into any other airport in Florida, and we’ve never had a problem. I like that it’s small,” said Bowser.
Each airport was ranked against 14 different factors and received a certain score out of 100. The Punta Gorda Airport scored a 33.84.
“I was surprised, as my mom is a snowbird, so she comes down and this is the only one she uses and she’s very comfortable with it because it’s easy to navigate through by herself,” said Punta Gorda Airport passenger, Rachel Shreiner.
According to FloridaRentals.com, the airports at the bottom of the list appear to have longer delay times and cancellations.
Flights out of Punta Gorda averaged around 21-minute delays and about 46-minute late arrivals.
“We’re supposed to go out at 4:03. As of now, it says it’s on time,” said Shreiner.
The top-ranking airport is Melbourne Orlando International with a score of 73.97, and the Sarasota International Airport ranked seventh with a score of 63.40.
