BRADENTON – “Every year I say to everybody a month before you got to get ready cause you gotta regatta,” said Kristen Smoyer.

The 6th annual Bradenton Area River Regatta raced into the Suncoast. F-2 Powerboats dazzled crowds as they reached speeds upwards of 100 mph. “I love coming to Bradenton, I love doing the regatta it’s such a family friendly event,” said Smoyer.

Kristen “The Destroyer” Smoyer, the Women’s World Champion Flyboarder, has been part of the regatta for the past five years. Smoyer alongside Mike Traster, the Men’s World Champion Flyboarder, captivated the crowd by defying gravity.

“You go up there and sort of feel like a superhero,” said Smoyer. “I tell everybody my favorite part about flying is I get the best view.”

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Organizers have vendors and several other performers along the Bradenton Riverwalk and Palmetto. But of course the main attraction are the F-2 Powerboats that hope to take first place and be crowned this year champion.

“They have everything for people that want to grab a beer, or people that want to come down with their kids, or people that want to watch a dog show, or flyboard show,” said Smoyer. “We have water, we have land events we have concerts I mean it just can’t get any better than that.”
