HOLMES BEACH (SNN TV) – A feud between Manatee County and Holmes Beach officials will soon be settled by the stroke of the governor’s pen

According to the Herald-Tribune, state legislators unanimously approved a bill granting the county authority to build a parking garage in the city. The garage is meant to ensure parking for residents.

The parking facility can measure up to 36 feet in height and is allowed to include sanitary facilities, retail and dining establishments, as well as recreational and entertainment amenities. It must be located in a public park managed by the county.

The bills were among the few to pass unanimously this legislative session. The bills have been enrolled and await final action by Governor DeSantis.

Holmes Beach Mayor Judy Titsworth says Holmes Beach officials resisted returning to pre-COVID parking levels, so this issue was sent to the state for political reasons. She doesn’t feel residents are being heard by the legislature and hopes DeSantis vetoes the bill.
