DOWNTOWN SARASOTA (SNN TV) – A New York style deli opens Monday in downtown Sarasota.
Chef Natalia Levey and her local Hi Hospitality Group will open Palm Avenue Deli Monday for breakfast only, according to the Herald-Tribune. It’ll open for lunch and dinner eventually.
Levey says it reflects her Eastern European heritage and pays homage to Jewish delis that thrived in New York City in the mid-20th century, complete with a jukebox playing songs from that era.
It’ll offer family recipes such as Natalia’s Syrniki. That’s a recipe her parents used to make her for breakfast: “farmer’s cheese pancakes with raisins, served with condensed milk and raspberry preserves.”
The deli had a soft opening briefly in June but will serve breakfast from 7-11 a.m. daily starting Monday. In mid-July, it’ll open for lunch, then eventually dinner. The goal is to eventually operate 24/7.
It’s located at 1297 North Palm Avenue.
