SARASOTA –  Rain or shine, the Sarasota Sky Pilots will play at their ‘Super Ice Bowl’ event.

It’s nationally recognized as the ‘Ice Bowl,”  where disc golf clubs donate funds to a local non-profit organization through a tournament.

Sarasota Sky Pilots chose to donate funds to All Faiths Food Bank. In previous years, they’ve ranked among top 20 in the nation..raising more than five-thousand-dollars.

Throughout the tournament, they continue to raise funds with raffles and contests.

About 72 players participated.

Sarasota Sky Pilots explain why it’s they renamed it.

“We call it the ‘Super Ice Bowl’ because obviously the super bowl is tomorrow,” said Sarasota Sky Pilots’ treasurer, Kristiana Shultis. “And it’s very rare that we get cold weather in Florida, so it’s kind of nice that’s it’s a little cold and rainy today.”

They’re accepting canned goods and donations up until next week.
