JUPITER (SNN-TV) – Following a marathon negotiation session yesterday, the deadline for a deal between MLB owners and players went into extra innings today, and unfortunately we are left without a walk-off.

MLBPA player leaders agreed unanimously not to accept MLB’s final proposal, and there will be no deal on a new collective-bargaining agreement.

Officials with MLB decided to extend the self-imposed deadline after 16 hours of negotiations led to “serious progress” yesterday.

According to sources close to the situation, the MLB’s best and final offer was received as a “slap in the face” by players.

Earlier today, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred had some candid comments concerning the failure to reach an agreement.

“We made a proposal this afternoon, I believe without exception, every topic, we have made the last proposal, every single issue in the basic agreement, we have made the last proposal you draw your own conclusion on as who ought to go next.”

Manfred and Major League Baseball have canceled the opening two series of the MLB season, with more cancellations impending.
