MINNEAPOLIS (SNN-TV) – A former Ray has been hired as part of the Twins coaching staff.

Minnesota has hired former big league catcher Hank Conger as their new first base coach and catching coach.

This will be Conger’s first Major League coaching assignment, but it’s not his first professional coaching job. He’s spent the past two seasons as the catching coach with the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Conger platooned behind the plate alongside Curt Casali in 2016 for the Rays, where he hit .194 before being optioned to the Durham Bulls.

Conger joins a Twins coaching staff headed up by another former Ray, Rocco Baldelli.
