CINCINNATI, OH (SNN-TV) – Orlando born Marlins pitcher Daniel Castano was hit on the forehead by a 104 mph line drive off the bat of Donovan Solano in the first inning of the Miami’s 7-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds today.

The ball hit the bill of his cap and ricocheted off the crown, according to Marlins manager Don Mattingly. The team said Castano has a mild concussion and a bruised forehead and a CT scan was normal.

Castano spoke to media postgame and walked them through the moment.

“It just kind of went black for a second to be honest with you, it wasn’t a whole lot. I came to and everyone was around me. [I] think the first thing I asked was: “Did we get the out?”, just making sure. Everything was alright, I still wanted to compete in be in that game.”

Castano faced just five batters before getting hurt. He is 2-7 in 17 starts and five relief appearances in his big league career. He was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to make the start.
