CORAL GABLES (SNN-TV) – The University of Miami has officially announced the hiring of former Oregon Ducks coach Mario Cristobal as its next head football coach.

Cristobal’s contract with Miami is worth $80 million over 10 years.

After a 7-5 season in 2021, Miami fired Manny Diaz to create an opening for Cristobal.

Cristobal is a Miami native, was a Hurricanes offensive lineman for two national championship teams, and a Miami assistant from 2004 to 2006.

Cristobal went 35-13 at Oregon with two Pac-12 championships, a Rose Bowl win two years ago and three Pac-12 North titles.
