SARASOTA – The Made By Gallery at Ringling College of Art and Design finally has a home on campus.

For the past five years the Made By Gallery didn’t have an established location on the Ringling college campus.

“This is so much more upscale, and the appearance, the atmosphere, the feel of the place,” says Lisa Seaboyer, Assistant Manager at the gallery.

Art created by students and alumni at Ringling college now have a place to call home at the new Made By Gallery. “This is the new home of Made By Gallery. This is the gallery were students and alumni work is displayed and for sale,” says Seaboyer

Seaboyer says this is an improvement to their last location – which was in the lobby of the college. “The problem was is that we had to be able to set up every day as a gallery because we had to bring everything in and out of the lobby area,” she says.

Seaboyer says the gallery having its own location gives the feel of being at a real art store. “What’s nice about this is that we have it fully – very beautiful galley now that is set up stationary,” she says.

The work on display for the open reception was of artist and class of 1973 alumni Theodore Morris – who finds inspiration in Native American history amongst other subjects. “I’ve always liked art and I’ve always liked history,” says Morris

Seaboyer says now having an established location for the gallery will allow students to get a real world experience when looking to sell their art. “But what’s nice about the part with the students is they’re going to school here, they get to know how to market, be able to work with an official gallery, they can put that on their resume.”

Made By Gallery is the only location where guests visiting the college can buy one of-a kind artwork from the students and alumni. Seaboyer says they try and rotate to the next theme or show within three weeks, so there’s always fresh art to buy.
