LAKEWOOD RANCH (SNN-TV) – Fresh off her NCAA Championship victory with LSU, former Lakewood Ranch star, LaDazhia Williams is WNBA bound.
Williams was chosen in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever yesterday at No. 17 overall.
The former Mustang averaged nearly 10 points and 6 rebounds for LSU. She had career-high 24 points against Utah in the Sweet 16 and 20 points in the Tigers’ national championship game victory against Iowa, adding five rebounds and three steals.
Williams was the first LSU player picked in this year’s draft, ahead of guard Alexis Morris. ESPN had projected Williams as a third-round pick. The WNBA preseason schedule begins for the Fever on Sunday, May 7th.
