FLORIDA (SNN TV) – Medical doctors and colleagues from the University of Florida say Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo’s advice on COVID vaccines is highly questionable and cherry-picked.

Ladapo has advised males age 18 to 39 to avoid COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. The Herald-Tribune reports Ladapo’s own UF colleagues found he committed “reporting bias by cherry picking results” that supported him while ignoring evidence that didn’t.

The panel also said Ladapo’s research is flawed because it “forms conclusions on the basis of exceptionally small event rates that distort magnitude of risk and do not consider magnitude of benefit.”

The panel found his formed conclusions based on “exceptionally small event rates that distort magnitude of risk and do not consider magnitude of benefit.” It accuses him of “careless, irregular or contentious research practices” and recommended his actions be reviewed by UF’s research integrity office.

However, according to the Herald-Tribune, David Norton, UF’s vice president for research, said Wednesday that the research integrity office has “no standing” to look into the committee’s accusations because Ladapo issued the guidance as a state official, not a faculty member.

Ladapo is on the faculty at UF’s College of Medicine. The Florida Health Department says Ladapo stands by his guidance.
