SUMMER BASH HIGDON

SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – Two former Suncoast high school football stars banded together to give back to the kids in the community that helped raise them.

Former Riverview football players, Jamar Johnson and Karan Higdon’s Summer Bash was a success Saturday at the Robert L. Taylor Community Center The event gave away 250 backpacks and school supplies, as well as free haircuts and physicals to families on the Suncoast.

While Jamar is currently in training camp with the Denver Broncos, former Rams and University of Michigan running back Karan Higdon was in attendance, and spoke to the importance of giving back.

“We played in these communities. Ultimately, these communities are what shaped us and developed us to become the athletes and professionals that we’ve become. So its only right that we come back and provide that same knowledge and wisdom that others put on to us, to these kids that have those same dreams and aspirations.”
