SARASOTA – Republican Joe Gruters defeated Faith Olivia Babis in the race to state senate. Gruters celebrated his win at the Republican Party at the Hyatt in Sarasota. He says hes excited to tackled some of the issues he is passionate about, like education and the environment.
“To go up there and fight for all of our issues and really just make our area the best possible place to live and work and I’m incredibly grateful and humbled for the opportunity to go back,” said Gruters.
Gruters led in Sarasota County with 55 percent of the votes over his opponent Democrat Olivia Babis.
