VENICE (WSNN) – Thousands came out for this year’s annual International Chalk Festival at the Venice Municipal Airport in Venice. The event included food trucks, illusion rooms, and of course, lots of street art.

Spectators lined up for a chance to experience the 3D optical illusions that artists from all over the world flew in to create. One artist from Germany, Fredda Wouters, spent three days creating a grizzly bear that comes to life if you look at just the right angle.

“I like to observe the reaction of the public. It’s something that pays for your work because you get the energy of these reactions, it’s something that motivates you as an artist a lot. This is the strength I think of street art, you really have an interactive part with the public and the public can make contact, deep contact, with art, and a deep contact with artists” said Wouters.

All of the proceeds go towards the event and bringing in the artists from all over the world. Some will be staying to participate in the Avenue of Art in Sarasota from April 4th-10th.
