SARASOTA – A fire breaks out at a home on Halton Place and Fruitville Road shortly after five this afternoon.
Sarasota County Fire Departments Battalion Chief Wayne Balcom says the first and second floor of the structure were on fire. One person was home at the time of the fire but made it out safely.
A cat and a dog were also inside the residence but were rescued by officers and treated for smoke inhalation. According to Balcom a nearby parked car also caught on fire. The fire is still under investigation. No cause has been reported.
