Former Venice standouts weigh-in on Friday’s semifinal game

2017 VENICE

VENICE (SNN-TV) – With the Venice Indians just one win away from returning to their first state title game since 2017, two former Venice State Champions weighed in on Friday’s match up with valuable insight.

The first being former Indians QB, 2017 Mr. Florida Football and current Coastal Carolina senior Bryce Carpenter, who’s reminding the Indians to play without regret. “You only have one opportunity at this game to compete for a state championship. You’ll remember this forever. Just leave it all out there, don’t hold anything back or leave anything in the tank. Compete with everything that you have.”

Carpenter’s go-to receiver during the Indians 2017 state title run, is his Coastal Carolina teammate now as well in Jaivon Heiligh. Attention to detail for Heiligh was key to winning his ring, and he urges this year’s team to find their focus as well. “The little things will bring you the big things, you can’t skip a beat when you’re on a run going to states. You skip a beat, you’ll lose quick. I don’t think Coach Peacock will let that happen. I think we’re going to continue on this run and go get a ring.”

The opportunity to get that ring for the Indians goes through the Miami Columbus Explorers tomorrow night at Powell-Davis Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
