SARASOTA – Florida State Representative Margaret Good announced her plan to file a bill that would increase background checks for all gun purchases in Florida Thursday afternoon.

Representative Good attended a monthly Moms Demand Action meeting at the North Sarasota Library where she announced that she filed HB 451 requiring background checks for all gun purchases in Florida closing the loophole that permits individuals from buying a gun from a private party without undergoing any kind of background check.

“I was sworn in the day that the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting happened,” said Rep. Good. “It is time that legislature take common sense steps to make Floridians safer. Requiring background checks with gun purchases is affective, it’s what Floridians want and it’s time for the legislature to take action.”

Representative Good has previously filed similar bills but both have been turned down. This is her third time introducing this legislation.
