TALLAHASSEE (SNN TV) – A charter school in Tallahassee will lose access to its teaching materials at the end of the school year.

This comes just weeks after a teacher at Tallahassee Classical School showed images of Michelangelo’s statue David to a sixth grade class. Some parents complained after the March 17 incident; they said they were upset the school did not notify parents ahead of time about the lesson.

The famous statue shows a nude male body. The school’s principal was fired over the incident. Now, Michigan based Hillsdale College revoked the school’s license. Hillsdale is a conservative Christian college that Governor Ron DeSantis has said he wants New College of Florida to be like; the college also supplies the school’s curriculum.

A spokesperson for Hillsdale says it made the move because of the fall out surrounding the Michelangelo lesson. Hillsdale says the incident has become a distraction to the college and its mission.
