VENICE – An explosion Monday evening sets a Venice home ablaze. Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, Venice firefighters were dispatched to an explosion at a home in the 700 block of Cypress Avenue.
City of Venice Fire Chief Shawn Carvey says the explosion caused a fire, and when fire crews arrived, they found flames reaching through the roof of the home.
“All people inside the house were out; they were sleeping at the time, smelled smoke, and got out of the house,” Carvey said. “This fire was a difficult fire. I’ts an older home.”
Carvey says nobody was injured in the fire. Venice Police and FPL were also on scene. The Venice Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the explosion.
