BRADENTON- “Waiting kind of built up the anticipation for it, but it was most definitely worth it,” said Cardinal Mooney Class of 2020 Valedictorian, Graham Linehan.

United as Cougars, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School Class of 2020 received their diplomas Friday morning at LECOM Park.

“The fact that we didn’t necessarily have a finite ending to the school year so a lot of us didn’t get to say our goodbyes that we had to, but at the same time we’re excited to start a new chapter in our lives,” said Linehan.

All grads required to wear masks, and social distance.

Cassie Lloyd, Cardinal Mooney Class of 2020 graduate, says graduation day was anticipated by everyone.

“It is definitely a relief for all of us right now because we kind of didn’t get that closure with saying goodbye to all of our teachers and our classmates so I think being here and seeing everyone and just kind of say our last goodbyes really helped,” said Cardinal Mooney 2020 Graduate, Cassie Lloyd.

Lloyd says with the new reality of a pandemic, life after high school will definitely be a different experience.

“We’re going into college, obviously wearing face masks, so I’m wondering how I’m going to make friends and everything like that but I think we are well prepared. Quarantine definitely helped us getting set; I also think Mooney helped us prepare for all these situations that get thrown at us,” said Lloyd.

Cardinal Mooney’s Class of 2020 had 133 graduates in their senior class.

Congratulations Class of 2020!
