SARASOTA – The Department of Health of Sarasota hosts a Pfizer vaccination clinic for those 12-years or older.
“It hurt, I mean it felt weird, but now I get to hang out with my friends after school so,” said vaccinated 12-year old, Joshua Santiago.
“It’s crucial, it’s really important, it’s easy, it’s an easy decision I think,” said Parent of 13-year old vaccinated, Greg Bown.
“We felt it was important, we consulted with our kid’s doctors and asked numerous questions and after they felt it was the right thing to do and we felt it was the right thing to do we decided to go ahead and get them vaccinated,” said Parent of 12 and 14-year old vaccinated, Ephraim Santiago.
For one pair of teens, getting the vaccine would get them closer to losing the requirement to wear a face mask
“Because I have a learning disability, and usually when I try to talk my teacher cannot understand me with a face mask,” said vaccinated 17-year old, Melanie Jedrzejczak.
And a step closer to normalcy…
“In school we lost a lot of things like, we couldn’t do field trips no more, we couldn’t hang out with a lot of kids or sit close to them and wear face masks,” said 17-year old vaccinated, Ashlie Jedrzejczak.
“We moved here from New Jersey 11 months ago and the kids are having a hard time making friends because they don’t go out after school and socialize and they have masks on at school and it makes it overall really difficult,” said Parent of 12 and 14-year old vaccinated, Tracy Santiago.
“It’s really important for kids that are in school or participating in sports, that way if they are in contact with someone with COVID they won’t automatically have to go out of school,” said Sarasota County Department of Health PIO, Steve Huard.
“It didn’t really hurt, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be,” said 14-year old vaccinated, Gabriella Santiago.
And if you missed the clinic today, we have some good news for you, the Department of Health is planning another clinic next week.
