PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (SNN TV) – If you’re looking to finally start that garden at home, a backyard vegetable growing workshop is being hosted next month by the University of Florida’s IFAS Extension Charlotte County.

In a Facebook post, Charlotte County Parks and Recreation said the workshop will cover the basics of vegetable gardening and pests.

The focus will be on practical information which can be put to use immediately in your backyard.

To register, visit their event page. The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Centennial Park Recreation Center at 1120 Centennial Boulevard in Port Charlotte.

Space is limited and registration is required, including a $5 fee to cover the cost of materials.
