MOSCOW, RUSSIA (SNN-TV) – WNBA star Brittney Griner pleaded guilty Thursday to drug charges in a Russian court near Moscow.
It came on the second day of her trial. The 31 year old Olympic medalist was accused of attempting to smuggle less than a gram of cannabis oil into the country.
She’s been held at a detention center since her arrest in February.
Now that she’s pleaded guilty, she could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
The plea deal could mean a shorter sentence for Griner, but she’s due back in court next week.
