ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – Milwaukee hit a pair of ground-rule home runs off a catwalk ring hovering over the field of play at the home park of the Tampa Bay Rays, including Rowdy Tellez’s go-ahead blast in the eighth inning for a 5-3 win and two-game series sweep Wednesday afternoon.
For Tellez, it was his second multi-homer day in three games. He opened the scoring with a solo shot to center in the second against Rays opening pitcher Jalen Beeks.
The Milwaukee bullpen combination of Jandel Gustave, Hoby Milner, former Ray Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams and Josh Hader allowed one hit while recording the final 13 outs to pick up Milwaukee’s 11th win in its last 16 games.
The Rays now head to the Great White North for a 5-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays beginning tomorrow at 7pm.
