LONDON, ENGLAND (SNN-TV) – Two weeks ago, Bradenton-native and IMG alum Sebastian Korda expressed his belief on being “one of the favorites at Wimbledon” following his victory over Frances Tiafoe at the Queen’s Club in London.
Jiri Vesely didn’t get the memo. Earlier today, the left-hander eliminated the 22nd-seeded Korda, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, improving to 9-0 in first-round matches staged at the All England Club. Vesely will play the winner of the match between Australian, Christopher O’Connell and Serbian qualifier Hamad Medjedovic.
Americans Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Christopher Eubanks fared better than Korda today with opening round wins.
