WASHINGTON, D.C. (SNN TV) – Three congresspeople, including one from Florida, announce a bill that would block schools from getting federal funding if they collect or require menstrual cycle information.

U.S. Representatives and Democrats Adam Schiff, Ilhan Omar, and Florida’s Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick introduced the PERIOD Act. The bill’s sponsors say asking the questions are a quote “roundabout way of discriminating against trans students that would also subject cisgender students to invasive government mandates of their private medical data.”

The FHSAA is not a state agency headed by Governor Ron DeSantis, though the Herald-Tribune reports it must follow state law passed by Florida’s legislature and governor.

The FHSAA denies that any of this was influenced by DeSantis.
