SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN TV) — Asolo Repertory Theatre announced the cast and creative team for “Crazy For You”.
“Crazy For You” is a tap dancing romantic comedy set in the Roaring Twenties that features classic George Gershwin songs such as “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “I Got Rhythm” and “Embraceable You.”
Asolo Rep’s opening show will be directed and choreographed by Tony-Nominated Denis Jones. Angela Steiner returns to Asolo Rep as the music director, who worked on productions at the theater such as “Cabaret” and “Sweeney Todd.”
Leading the cast are Daniel Plimpton, debuting at Asolo Rep as Bobby Child, and Sara Esty, also making her Asolo Rep debut as Polly Baker. Plimpton’s extensive National Tours include performances in “Book of Mormon,” ‘White Christmas,” and “Spring Awakening”, while his Regional Theatre engagements span illustrious venues such as Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Pioneer Theatre, Denver Center, Bucks County Playhouse, Fulton Theatre, and the O’Neill Playwrights Conference.
Previews for “Crazy For You” run from Nov. 15 through Nov. 17. Opening night is set for Nov. 18, and performances at the Mertz Theatre run through Jan. 4, 2024.
