SARASOTA (WSNN) – Hundreds of cars wrapped around the Ed Smith Stadium parking lot for All Faiths Food Bank’s mass food distribution on Saturday.

CEO, Sandra Frank says they probably had about 200 cars right at the start of the morning.

They served food for about 400 families in need. The meals feeding about two-and-half people per household, so that’s about 1000 people getting meals.

The Suncoast can expect to pick up fresh milk, juices, produce, and frozen meals that will last about four days.

“This is 50 plus pounds of food that they’re going to receive, if you translate that into dollars, that’s money in their pockets to pay their rent, to pay their medical bills, to pay for gas, so they can get to a job if they have a job,” Frank said. “So it’s literally nutrition and a cash boost.”

They plan to host mass food distributions every Saturday at Ed Smith Stadium through the month of September. No pre-registration required.

Frank says this crisis isn’t over; this is a long term pandemic. Recovery will be long, so they need your support, They’re not accepting food donations at this time, but monetary gifts are welcome.
