SARASOTA – Deputies responded to a report of a stolen car in the 3100 block of Clark Road just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. According to the victim, his car was stolen after leaving the car unlocked with the engine running while going inside a convenience store.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle eastbound of Clark Road and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect rammed into a patrol car and fled the scene, the vehicle then lost control and crashed into a nearby ditch.
“Steven Foley, he was arrested and is still currently in the Sarasota County Jail, says Lieutenant of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Gregory. “He was charged with fleeing to Elude, Grand Theft Auto, driving on a suspended license and battery on a law enforcement officer.”
Foley has prior arrests for Fleeing to Elude, Burglary, Theft, Fraud, and Forgery. He remains in custody without bond.
